The removal of attachments will begin on 1 February 2026.

As part of the Omakissa system renewal, we need to clean up the database. This means that attachments older than five years (saved before 2021) will be removed from cats’ records.

Attachments include, for example, foreign show results and health documents such as umbilical hernia clearance certificates. All of this information has already been reviewed and approved, and the relevant details will remain in the cat’s records.

If you have used Omakissa to store attachments, please make sure to download and save them to your own computer by 1 February 2026. After this date, older attachments will no longer be accessible.

Why is this being done?
The Omakissa database is currently 65 GB in size, and about 95% of it consists of old attachments dating back to 2012. These files have already served their purpose. Once a registrar has checked and approved an attachment (for example, a health result), the essential information is saved in the system as text. The file itself then remains in the database only as a kind of “receipt.”

A database this large slows the system down and makes backups and recovery unnecessarily slow and expensive. By removing attachments older than five years, we can reduce the database to a more reasonable size. This improves performance and data security, while ensuring that no actual information is lost, as all key data will remain safely stored in the system.
